The Impressionists, once scorned outsiders, forever changed art history with their groundbreaking 1874 exhibition. The Musee d’Orsay exhibition tells their story. Re-creating the founding of the Impressionist movement, when artists including Monet, Renoir and Cézanne who had been turned down by the official Paris Salon showed their work at their own exhibition under the title “Société Anonyme: the Salon des Refusés”.
