1985, the first Dublin Film Festival was launched. Only after the programme had gone to press did the organisers discover that they were one film short! With characteristic flair, they turned this potential mishap into one of the most beloved slots in the festival – the Surprise Film.  For the first time, we offer you the opportunity to enjoy this experience, and will only let you know this: our choice is an Oscar nominated film from 2022.  No one, even the projectionist, is allowed to know the film’s title until the first few frames slowly reveal its true identity…
